Prep Your Wood Surface

Tape off the surfaces of your deck or patio you don't want stained. Avoid staining in direct sunlight so the wood stain does not dry unevenly. Then get ready to apply wood stain!

Apply Wood Stain

For even coverage, apply the wood stain to one board at a time. For best results, backbrush into the wood surface.

Clear Wood Finishes

Clear wood finishes & wood stains allow your wood to weather and gray naturally. Least protection, most woodgrain.

Transparent / Toner

Transparent wood stains add a slight hint of color that highlights the wood grain. Less protection, more woodgrain.

Semi-Transparent Stain

Semi-transparent wood stains provide rich color that allows wood grain and texture to show. More protection, less woodgrain.

Semi-Solid Stain

Semi-solid stains give the same rich color as semi-transparent, but hides more wood grain. More protection, least woodgrain.

Solid Color Stain

Solid Color Stain covers the woodgrain and accentuates the natural texture. Most protection, no woodgrain.

Deck Resurfacer

A deck resurfacer creates a new, safe, durable surface on worn or weathered wood or concrete.

Coverage

One gallon covers approximately 250 to 350 sq. feet or 23.2 to 32.5 sq. meters depending on wood texture and porosity.

Application Details

Test a small area to ensure acceptable appearance and penetration. Apply one thin coat of this deck stain with a high-quality brush, roller or paint pad or by spray equipment. Can be applied down to 50°F for <550 g/L VOC version and 35°F for <250 g/L and <100 g/L VOC versions.

Drying Time

Normally dries in 24 hours when applied at 50°F to 85°F. Drying times listed may vary depending on temperature, humidity, color and air movement.

Cleanup

Clean brushes and tools with mineral spirits for <600 g/L VOC version and with soap and water for <100 g/L VOC version.
